Learning Outcomes:
- Understand transfusion issues.
- Have an understanding of available alternatives to transfusion.
- Understand the benefits, risks, and anticipated outcomes of transfusion.
- Understand factors for effective and safe patient assessment.
- Understand the importance of documentation in blood transfusion
- Understand patient education surrounding blood transfusion.
- Understand informed consent in relation to documentation.
- Understand the process for safe and appropriate ordering of blood components including special requirements.
- Know where to find local policies in relation to blood transfusion.
- Know the processes to authorise (prescribe) blood components.
This training includes written words and graphs, to best assist you in learning effective and safe blood transfusion skills.
At the end of the training session, there are 10 multiple choice questions (MCQs), based on the course content you will now go through. These MCQs must be answered correctly in order to pass the course.
If you answer any of the questions incorrectly, you are given the opportunity to retake the course and successfully complete the test to receive the completion certificate.
The course will take approximately 2 hours to complete.
